Christmas Portrait

 

After each donating a unit of blood
the week before Christmas,
a husband and wife
pose for a picture,
each holding the bags they had
filled just minutes before
as they smile into the camera,
maybe to be used
as their holiday picture
showing others that it was
better to give than receive.
They were Santa’s helpers today,
giving the gift of life to others,
to those in need of its saving powers.
