Wunderkind—perfumed even
the rankest British stable, survived
severe Cromwellian politics—a punishing
protectorate under Oliver’s thumb that vigilantly
enforced Wassail prohibition, replacing cavaliers with
parliamentarians until the restoration reconstituted Noel
merriment, rejoiced with forbidden Christmas
geese & mince meat
pies, dusted with cloves,
cinnamon, nutmeg, spices.
